Motorola and Rogers Bring the DEFY PRO in Canada

Motorola Mobility has just made a surprising move and announced the upcoming availability of the DEFY PRO Android smartphone.

This was initially slated for release in South America, but the US-based company decided to introduce the handset in Canada as well. According to Motorola, the DEFY PRO will be available exclusively to Rogers sometime this summer.

Just like all the handsets in the DEFY family, this one comes with a dust-proof and water-resistant body. In addition, the 2.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display features Corning Gorilla Glass coating. It’s also IP67 certified for resistance against scratches.

Motorola DEFY PRO is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and provides access to more than 600,000 apps and games via Google Play store.

The handset features a BlackBerry-esque full QWERTY keyboard, allowing for faster and more accurate typing.

There are no details on the phone’s processor or amount of memory yet, but we do know that the DEFY PRO embeds a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Motorola also confirmed that the smartphone would be shipped with a free 2GB memory card in the sales package.

When it comes to connectivity, Motorola DEFY PRO offers a wide range of options, including HSDPA and HSUPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with A2DP support, as well as DLNA and Wi-Fi hotspot.

On the back, the smartphone packs a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus and LED flash, while on the front there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

DEFY PRO offers the complete package – a life proof device with an elegant design packed with smart technology from Motorola. Whether you’re chilling poolside or stuck burning the midnight oil at the office, this phone is built to keep up and provides users with peace of mind,” said Darren Seefried, national account director, Motorola Mobility Canada.
