Olympics-Related Malware Removal Tool

Malware never sleeps and malware developers will take advantage of any occasion to push malicious code onto users’ computers. And the Olympic Games this year are the perfect opportunity.

Bitdefender alerts that spam campaigns guised as flight ticket reservations in order to trick the user into installing a generic downloader that brings in malware.

Another way to get infected is to open messages touting the Olympic Agenda, which comes with a PDF attachment fit with an exploit (CVE-2010-2883) that crashes Adobe Reader version 9.3 and older, deploying a backdoor service on the computer. This sort of attack (CVE-2010-3333) is also available for Microsoft Office users, in this case the attachment being a DOC file.

The freshly launched Olympics-related malware removal tool from Bitdefender is designed only for rooting out this sort of malware from your computer. It is free and does not require installation.
