Madonna Speaks on Paris Concert Riots, Says the Media Got It Twisted

As we also informed you earlier today, Madonna's most recent show in Paris, France, ended in riots, booing and swearing because she performed for only 45 minutes. She's issued a statement to set the record straight.

Amidst claims that fans were enraged to have her on stage for such a short while (and she actually sang for only 30 minutes) when they'd paid a small fortune to catch her live, Madonna is pinning the blame on protesters who weren't actually fans.

“Playing the Olympia was a magical moment for me and it was real treat to do this special show for my fans and be so close to them. Unfortunately at the end of the show - after I left the stage - a few thugs who were not my fans rushed the stage and started throwing plastic bottles pretending to be angry fans,” she says.

“The press reports have focused on this and not the joyous aspect of the evening. But nothing can take away or ruin this very special evening for me and my fans. When I looked out in the audience, everyone I saw had a smile on their face. I look forward to having this wonderful experience again,” Madonna adds.

As you will see, she doesn't address what people have been saying on Twitter ever since the show: namely that they paid too much for such a ridiculously short gig.

Above is the number Madonna closed the show with. The video below is fans' reaction when they realized the curtain wasn't going to be lifted again.
