Civ V: Gods & Kings Diary Hard Choice Time

I managed to find a string of Ruins, one of the most important early game tasks for all Civilization V players, and one of them has given me enough Faith in order to make my first important choice linked to religion.

First, the player is asked to select a Founding belief, which can range from getting more culture from some tiles like Jungles or Deserts to faster population increase for cities, before he can try to get a Great Prophet and found a full religion.

I am still baffled by the variety that developer Firaxis has included here and I probably spent 5 minutes trying to decide which of the gods Pacal should bow to before deciding that I will praise the God of Craftsmen, so that I can get a little extra production in my big cities.

I then go on to found my own full religion, adopting a number of beliefs that bring me more happiness and increase my production in cities, while also making my troops better than the enemies they are likely to face when in the vicinity of religious cities.

As we move into the Classical Age, I also eliminate most of the barbarians around the world and do some scouting in order to get some solid city locations.

The terrain discovery game is very important in Civilization V and I fall slightly behind because I lose two scouts to the aggressive Asoka, who goes to war because I refuse to give him some of my previous Pearls.

I have also discovered Vatican very close to my capitol and planned to attack the city, because it seems to be lightly defended and it certainly plays against my usual strategy, which is always to be on the good side of city-states.

I have one catapult and a force of 2 spearmen and 2 bowmen should easily do the job.
