ZTE Grand X Goes on Sale in the UK for 190 GBP (300 USD/240 EUR)

Unveiled back in February at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, ZTE Grand X has just hit shelves in the UK.

Although the smartphone was previously known as ZTE Mimosa X, the Chinese handset maker decided to change the handset's name to Grand X.

At first glance the ZTE Grand X seems to be the cheapest ICS-powered smartphone on the market. In this regard, UK-based carrier Virgin Mobile promised last week the device will be launched in early August.

However, it appears that Phones4U retailer is already taking orders for the ZTE Grand X. The smartphone can be purchased for only 190 GBP (300 USD/240 EUR) on PAYG (pay as you go).

Accoridng to Mr. He Shiyou, ZTE EVP and head of the Terminals Division, “ZTE Grand X brings high-end mobile video and gaming within the reach of a whole new audience. It provides a world of entertainment in a single device – combining high quality and a wide range of functions for a great mobile multimedia experience.”

The phone's main selling point is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Software aside, ZTE Grand X is pretty powerful, so expect this one to come equipped with a dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, as well as 1GB of RAM.

On the inside, the smartphone packs only 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

ZTE Grand X boasts an impressive 8-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. There's also a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the Grand X sports a vibrant 4.3-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.
