SwiftKey 3 Now Available for Android

SwiftKey, the award-winning keyboard app for Android, announced the availability of a new version of their software in the Google Play Store, namely SwiftKey 3.

Coming out of beta, the application is now available for only half its initial price through the app portal ($1.99 / £1.49), promising the most accurate and complete auto-correction and prediction capabilities.

The company behind the application notes that the new app release comes with a major step forward in auto-correction, while also packing various other new features.

The new SwiftKey 3 sports a new interface, with the possibility to enjoy more themes than before, as well as with support for more languages.

The release notes for the app include:

Smart Space – adding to SwiftKey's already cutting edge correction, Smart Space detects mistyped or omitted spaces across strings of poorly typed words in real-time.

Two new themes – a new theme, 'Cobalt', to match SwiftKey's new look and feel, and an Ice Cream Sandwich-styled 'Holo' theme, as voted for by SwiftKey's VIP community.

An enhanced UI – a much larger space bar and smart punctuation key help improve accuracy and make it quick and easy to access common punctuation.

Additional languages – SwiftKey 3 now offers support for an additional seven languages, bringing the total up to 42. The new languages are Korean, Estonian, Farsi, Icelandic, Latvian, Lithuanian and Serbian.

A series of other improvements have been added to the application as well, such as a dedicated comma key, along with having the <123> key in the bottom-left corner.

The Smart Punctuation pop-up has been refined too, while the Smart Space functionality was improved for easier typing of email addresses and URLs.

The performance of the app was improved on some devices, and the long-press duration setting was reintroduced, due to user feedback. The app also arrives on devices with better prediction algorithms, as well as with updated gestures for easier shortcuts.

"This new version of SwiftKey really provides the easiest, quickest and most accurate way to type on a touchscreen," said SwiftKey CEO Jon Reynolds. "Now you can focus on what you actually want to say when typing on a touchscreen, rather than struggling with typos and bad auto-corrections."
