The Last of Us' Story Wont Support Co-Op Play

The Last of Us, the upcoming survival game from Naughty Dog, won’t feature support for a cooperative mode during its story campaign, even if there are always two characters on the screen, in the form of protagonists Joel and Ellie.

The Last of Us was revealed to the world late last year and received an impressive gameplay demonstration earlier this month at E3 2012.

Since then, developer Naughty Dog has begun answering quite a few questions about the game and has just revealed that its story can’t be played cooperatively, despite the fact that Joel and Ellie will cooperate all the time.

Even so, a multiplayer mode is going to be a part of The Last of Us.

“We are supporting multiplayer with The Last of Us,” Naughty Dog Director Neil Druckmann told Gaming Examiner. “We’re not ready to talk about the details of how multiplayer will be implemented, however we can say that it is not co-op within the main campaign.”

Do you think Naughty Dog is missing an opportunity by not implementing co-op in the story?
