More 3DS Models Would Confuse Customers, Nintendo Says

Nintendo has confirmed that it won’t be releasing any new 3DS models in the near future, as that would confuse customers who wouldn’t know which version to choose.

Nintendo presented the 3DS last year and, earlier this month, unveiled the 3DS XL, a much bigger version of the portable console.

Fans shouldn’t expect any other 3DS variants anytime soon, however, as Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told investors, via Kotaku, that new versions of the platform would just confuse customers.

According to Iwata, people would get perplexed if they were confronted with too many choices, hinting that he doesn’t want to repeat the strategy the company had with the DS model, who had all sorts of versions available at the same time, from the DS Lite to the DSi or DSi XL.

Do you think Nintendo is making the right choice or should it try to offer more variety when it comes to the 3DS?
