Northrop Grumman Spacecraft Passes Important Design Review

Officials at the Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) are pleased to announce that their next-generation design for the Modular Space Vehicle (MSV) has just been approved, based on the conclusions of a two-day Spacecraft Baseline Interim Design Review.

The assessment completed the Spacecraft Bus Critical Design Review (CDR) process, which means that the advanced vehicle can now enter the fabrication stage of the process. The first components will begin to be assembled soon.

Working with the US Air Force Research Laboratory and the Department of Defense's Operationally Responsive Space office, at the Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, NGC was able to become the first company to implement Spacecraft Plug and Play architecture standards to its MSV.

“Completing the CDR process shows that our design meets mission requirements and moves the program toward the launch of a first-of-its-kind vehicle that could revolutionize the way spacecraft are built,” NGC Aerospace Systems VP of  Advanced Concepts, Space and Directed Energy Systems, Steve Hixson, explains.
