Because everything Kim Kardashian does makes headlines, it would have been absurd to assume she wouldn't for her fashion choices. Currently in Paris with her beau Kanye West, the reality star came under a lot of fire for wearing Spanx with a Stella McCartney sheer dress.
The Fall 2011 collection from the British designer included several items (dresses, mostly) that celebrated the female body by emphasizing it through optical illusion.
Kim wore this dress in Paris on a date with Kanye and, in almost no time, several US and international glossies were taking shots at her for apparently wearing Spanx with a dress that is meant to be worn with nothing underneath.
In fact, the outrage was so great that some media outlets even accused the reality star of trying to “restrain” her famous curves with the shapewear, or even of “cheating” her fans by wearing Spanx.
Kim felt it necessary to address the outrage in a post on her official webpage, Us Weekly reports.
For the record, she wasn't wearing Spanx, that's what the dress actually looks like.
“No Spanx here! I wore this gorgeous polka dot Stella McCartney dress out yesterday and I’ve seen some publications saying I’m flashing my Spanx or control underwear underneath the dress,” the curvaceous star wrote.
“But that’s exactly how I bought it with those nude panels inside. So no Spanx here! Stella made a full collection with these sheer panels on the side, and this is how my dress came!” Kim added.
These Stella McCartney dresses were all the rage last year, with stars like Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Susan Sarandon and even Kim's mother, Kris Jenner, rocking them on various public outings.
Kim is the only one to cause such a public outcry with it – and the Spanx that never was.
