Kyocera DuraXT Now Available at Sprint

On Monday, mobile phone carrier Sprint has made available for purchase a new rugged handset for its users interested in its Direct Connect portfolio, namely Kyocera DuraXT.

The new device is now available for purchase through all Sprint sales channels, including Telesales and Web sales, featuring a price tag of $69.99 (€56) with the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate via reward card.

DuraXT arrives on shelves as the latest addition to Kyocera’s Dura Series available as part of Sprint’s Direct Connect portfolio.

The handset offers support for Sprint’s 3G network, while featuring Military Standard 810G for Dust, Shock, Vibration, Blowing rain, Temp Extremes, Low Pressure, Solar Radiation, Salt Fog, Humidity and Immersion.

“DuraXT delivers a solid solution to mobile fleets and Enterprise customers looking for a device that can withstand the elements,” Sprint explains.

“It is wrapped in a rugged, clamshell form factor encased in a rubber, non-slip Dura-Grip material for extra durability so you don’t have to worry about losing your grip even in the toughest conditions.”

The specifications list of this device includes a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (a 1GB card included), and a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with flash and support for video recording.

Moreover, it arrives on shelves with 2.5 mm Stereo Headphone Jack (Supports PTT Headsets), a Powerful Speakerphone, and Stereo Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR (includes support for Bluetooth-capable PTT headsets and barcode scanners).

Sprint Direct Connect enables one-to-one push-to-talk calling nationwide on the wireless carrier’s network, as long as the receiver is also a Direct Connect subscriber. The service also offers interoperability across Sprint and Nextel network platforms.

Other Sprint Direct Connect services available on DuraXT include:

Call Alert with Text – Send an audio alert with an optional text message to let another Direct Connect subscriber know you are trying to reach them and why
Group Connect – Communicate with up to 20 other Sprint Direct Connect subscribers all at once – nationwide, at the push of one button
