Xilence Launches 1KW Platinum XQ Series Power Supply

German-Chinese power and cooling device manufacturer Xilence has just announced a new addition to its XQ Series Power Supplies. The new PSU features a maximum output of 1000 watts.

The 1 KW platinum version is certified 80+ Platinum and promises a 90% to 94% efficiency.

Xilence's new PSU flagship is able to supply an impressive 22 amps on the 12-volt line.

The new power supply unit (PSU) has a very modern design that has a clear functional utility, rather than aesthetics reasoning.

On the inside, the XQ series PSUs have much less cabling than most of the other power supply units on the market. That really improves airflow and decreases specific circuit resistance.

The modular connector board is directly soldered to the main PCB. This is the main reason that all that cabling was removed, and it also simplifies the servicing of the unit.

The first line of capacitors, next to the modular connector board, are all solid capacitors that are much more resilient and reliable than standard, electrolytic capacitors.

Having less internal cabling, the airflow inside an XQ PSU can actually be taken into consideration.

Usually, due to the fact that a high-end PSU has so much internal cabling that there is no actual way to direct the airflow, the PSU manufacturers use a big 120mm or 140mm fan that will blow air over the whole PCB with all the components and cabling on it.

If the main fan fails on a usual PSU, the deterioration of the PSU components will be rapid and surprising.

On the XQ Series, there are two different fans. They are much smaller, with a diameter of just 60mm, but the manufacturer brags that they are powered by motors designed for 80mm fans.

The PSU will keep complete silence until it reaches a load of about 20% to 30%. Beyond that, the fans will start spinning, but there are two temperature sensors, one for each fan. If one area of the PSU is cooler, the connected fan will spin slower or stop spinning altogether.

The 750W and 850W models will power up their fans at 20% utilization, but the 1KW model heats up slower and allows for fanless operation until the 30% utilization level is reached.

Because the PSU is completely silent at start, there is a power LED to tell the user that the unit is on, as there is no noise until it reaches a higher load.

Official pricing stands at รข‚¬200 for the European buyers or $243 for American customers.
