Windows Phone 8-Based Surface Phone Concept Emerges

A few weeks ago, Microsoft unveiled to the world its own tablet PCs running under the Windows 8 platform, and many users wondered whether a handset powered by Windows Phone 8 would also emerge.

Microsoft already confirmed that it did not have such plans, but that did not prevent enthusiasts from dreaming of such as device.

The Microsoft Surface Phone, as it is called, was designed by Jonas-Daehnert, and was inspired by the Surface tablet PCs.

If ever produced, the handset, powered by the upcoming Windows Phone 8 platform, would land on shelves with a last-generation quad-core application processor inside, complemented by 2GB of RAM for increased performance, and 32GB or 64GB of internal memory.

Moreover, it would pack a large touchscreen display, capable of delivering a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, for a great viewing experience while on the go.

On the back, we could expect a high-quality 16-megapixel photo snapper, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution. To that, we can also add a sleek outer design, aimed at attracting all users on its side.

Of course, we can continue dreaming of what other features and capabilities this device would include, such as NFC, LTE, GPS, a microSD memory card slot and more, but that does not mean that the device will actually become available with all such goodies inside.

In the meantime, however, we should wait to see what Microsoft’s mobile phone partners will have to offer to us later this year, when the Windows Phone 8 platform becomes officially available.

The company said recently that it was very happy with what these companies have created so far working with the new platform, and that it did not feel that it should launch a Windows Phone 8 device of its own.
