Windows Phone 7.8 vs. Windows Phone 8 Feature Set Comparison Leaks

Microsoft is currently working on the release of the next-generation Windows Phone 8 operating system. The company already managed to grab a fair share of the smartphone market, mostly due to the partnership with Nokia.

However, Windows Phone is still far from being an important player in the smartphone market, but both Nokia and Microsoft hope that the next version of the platform will offer users improved usability and productivity, thus more customers will be looking to grab the upcoming WP8 devices.

Rumor has it that Microsoft plans to release the Windows Phone 8 SDK in late July, though we don’t have any official confirmation yet. Moreover, the new platform is expected to arrive packed with more features than those unveiled until today.

In this regard, Russian forum WP7Forum.ru has just published a leaked document that contains a raw comparison between Windows Phone 7.8 and Windows Phone 8.0 features.

Among the main difference confirmed by this leaked document, we can read that WP7.8 comes with Internet Explorer 9, while the WP8 features Internet Explorer 10.

In addition, Skype has been integrated in WP8, but comes as a separate application in WP7.8. The same goes for RCS-e application, which provides operators with the possibility to plug in new data services for their phones.

There’s also a new unheard of feature included in Windows Phone 8, which allows the phone to recognize TV programs. A DataSmart application that allows users to monitor data usage will be integrated in WP8 as well, but it will come as a separate app in Windows Phone 7.8. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
