Samsung Galaxy S Receiving Android 2.3.6 Value Pack Update at Vodafone Australia

Although Samsung was pretty clear that Galaxy S wouldn’t be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich update, due to overwhelming feedback it decided to provide owners of the smartphone a glimpse of what Android 4.0 ICS has to offer.

Dubbed Android 2.3.6 “Value Pack,” the update is meant to introduce new features and new interface elements in order to improve users’ overall experience.

The update was initially launched in South Korea and then slowly rolled out worldwide. Today, the Value Pack update has finally reached Australian shores.

According to Vodafone Australia, an Android 2.3.6 “Value Pack” update is available for Samsung Galaxy S owners starting July 18.

For the time being, the update is only available via Samsung Kies desktop software, but a FOTA (firmware over the air) method will be made available pretty soon.
