Samsung Epic 4G Touch Coming Soon to Boost Mobile

It looks like Sprint plans to offer the Samsung Epic 4G Touch smartphone on PAYG (pay as you go) via Boost Mobile. Sprint’s no-term carrier is rumored to launch the smartphone in the following weeks, though we don’t have any details on the exact release date.

The folks over at Phandroid have been tipped on the upcoming release of the smartphone at Boost Mobile. The phone has just appeared in a user agent profile uploaded on Sprint’s servers with a new codename attached it.

Already known as Samsung SPH-D710, the smartphone has been spotted under a different name tag, SPH-D710BST, which clearly shows that Epic 4G Touch is headed to Boost Mobile.

According to Sprint, the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch should have been upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system on July 12.

The smartphone was initially launched with Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform integrated with TouchWiz 4.0 user interface. We’re still not sure whether or not Boost Mobile variant will be shipped with Ice Cream Sandwich onboard, but more details will surface in the following days.

The Epic 4G Touch sports a more than decent 4.52-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports only 480 x 800 pixels resolution, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating for extra protection.

The phone is equipped with an Exynos dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, which is complemented by a Mali-400MP graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM. On the inside, the Epic 4G Touch packs 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

There’s also an impressive 8-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls. We’re not sure exactly when the Epic 4G Touch goes on sale, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
