Motorola Rolls Out Android 4.0.4 ICS for RAZR and RAZR MAXX in India

Motorola Mobility delayed the release of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for its smartphone until Q3, though the US-based company promised it would deliver the hotly anticipated update as early as Q1 2012.

The first smartphones to receive the Ice Cream Sandwich update, DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX are exclusively available in the United States through Verizon Wireless.

It took Motorola several days to start the global rollout of the Android 4.0 ICS for RAZR and RAZR MAXX, but now the update is already available in a few countries.

Today, the folks over at AndroidOS claim the important update has reached Indian shores. Motorola RAZR and RAZR MAXX owners can check for the Android 4.0 ICS upgrade starting today.

The handset maker officially announces that the RAZR and RAZR MAXX smartphones can now be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS.

Even though the update is optional, those who upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich won’t be able to revert to Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.

Aside from bringing the platform to version 4.0 ICS, the new update adds lots of home screen customization and navigation changes, as well as social networking enhancements and improved voice recognition. In addition, the upgrade is meant to offer an updated look and feel as well.

Keep in mind that the download file for this upgrade is between 200MB – 240MB, so it’s recommended to download it via Wi-Fi in order to avoid connectivity charges over a 3G network that may incur.

There’s more to it as Motorola India announces that, part of this upgrade, RAZR and RAZR MAXX owners will receive several Android games from EA for free.

In order to take advantage of this offer, users will only need to open the MOTOLOUNGE application after the upgrade is successfully completed. It is also worth mentioning that there are 9 free games up for grabs.
