Huawei Ascend P1 Now Available in Canada via WIND Mobile

The Chinese company Huawei recently confirmed the Ascend P1 smartphone will arrive in the UK sometime in August.

However, it looks like the handset has just made its debut in Canada at WIND Mobile. The long-time partnership between the carrier and Huawei seems to have come to fruition, as the phone is being launched in Canada ahead of many other important markets.

The Ascend P1 is a welcome addition to Huawei Canada's device lineup and we're very happy to be able to offer it to Canadians. Its exceptional craftsmanship and unparalleled performance create a truly unique mobile experience for the user,” said Alane Zhang, General Manager of Huawei Device Canada.

Customers can now purchase the Huawei Ascend P1 exclusively via WIND Mobile brick and mortar stores for $49 CAD on WINDtab on $40 CAD plan or for $199 CAD on WINDtab on $25 CAD plan.

Those who do not wish to commit to any of these monthly plans can choose to grab the Ascend P1 for around $400 CAD outright.

Keep in mind that this smartphone is not yet available online, so you will have to visit a WIND Mobile store near you in order to purchase it.

Huawei Ascend P1 runs Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and packs a powerful 1.5 GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

The smartphone sports a qHD 4.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating for extra-protection. Check it out here.

The Huawei Ascend P1 is the perfect device for smartphone enthusiasts. And when combined with our contract-free, truly unlimited plans users can get the most out of their Ascend P1,” said Anthony Lacavera, CEO and Chairman of WIND Mobile.
