Gigabyte Intros Affordable Pre-Overclocked AMD Radeon HD 7770 Video Card

Well-known mainboard manufacturer, Taiwanese company Gigabyte has just introduced a new factory overclocked video card based on AMD’s “Cape Verde” GPU, on its official website.

The new addition to Gigabyte’s lineup actually comes with lower frequencies than the other pre-overclocked HD 7770 card from the manufacturer.

This new model is called Gigabyte GV-R777OC-1GD Rev. 2.0 and the “rev. 2.0” part is the only naming difference.

On the performance side, the new revision comes with lower GPU and memory frequencies as this version has them clocked at 1050 MHz/ 4500 Mhz while the first revision was clocked at 1100 Mhz/ 5000 Mhz.

We don’t really know the reason that prompted Gigabyte to make this change as the 10 cm cooling fan seems the adequate cooling to us.

We’re inclined to think that the manufacturer is slightly repositioning the card on the market. It lowers the price and by also lowering the frequency ratings, they make sure more GPUs comply with the pre-overclocking settings and less cards suffer RMAs.
