Buffalo Intros MiniStation Air 500GB Wireless HDD

Nagoya-headquartered, Japanese company Buffalo Melco Holdings Inc. just announced a new external HDD with USB 3.0 interface, on the company’s official website.

The new device joins Patriot’s Gauntlet Node external enclosure and offers a completely autonomous data storage and sharing solution.

The new external HDD unit from Buffalo is powered solely by the USB 3.0 cable that also charges the internal 2,860 mAh lithium-ion battery.

This battery seems to be a little less potent than what Patriot’s Gauntlet Node as it’s only rated for about 4 and a half hours of use.

The device mostly targets users of mobile devices.

Having an external HDD that has its own battery and an integrated WiFi adapter allows you to put it in your car and every phone, tablet or laptop could get whatever is needed with no wires.

The device also comes with Buffalo’s custom iOS app and another Google Play for Android devices.

The pricing is slated at $280 (229 EUR) and that’s quite expensive in our opinion.
