Samsung GALAXY S III Now Up for Pre-Order via AT&T, Sprint and Verizon

As expected, three US-based carriers have just kicked off pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S III super-phone. Verizon, AT&T and Sprint are accepting pre-orders for Samsung’s third Galaxy S smartphone.

All three carriers offer the 16GB model of the Galaxy S III for as low as $199.99 with a new two-year agreement, whereas Verizon and Sprint will also sell the 32GB variant for $249.99 on contract.

It is also worth mentioning that AT&T and Sprint have already confirmed the Galaxy S III will start shipping on June 18 and June 21, respectively.

Unfortunately, Verizon has yet to confirm a release date for the Samsung Galaxy S III, though the carrier mentions that smartphone is expected to hit shelves “by July 9.”

Given the fact that Samsung’s Exynos SoC that powers the international version of Galaxy S III does not feature LTE support, the US-based model will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset that packs a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor.

Samsung Galaxy S III will eventually offer Verizon and Sprint network users LTE speeds, as well as HSPA+ technology for those who prefer AT&T. However, Sprint customers should take into consideration the fact that the carrier has yet to launch its 4G network.

Keep in mind that the Galaxy S III comes with 2GB of RAM in North America, while the European version packs only 1GB of RAM.

Obviously, the smartphone is powered by Google’s latest Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system integrated with Nature UX, formerly known as TouchWiz 4.0 UI.

Other highlights of the super-phone include a stunning 4.8-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating for extra protection, as well as an impressive 8-megapixel main camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.
