BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9881 has finally reached Indian shores, but customers who want to gram this one might want to take into consideration the fact that this is a premium device.

In this regard, customers in India can now purchase the new Porsche Design P’9981 for Rs 139,990 (2,480 USD or 1,950 EUR) outright through BlackBerry Premium and BlackBerry Exclusive stores.

The phone is shipped with BlackBerry 7.0 operating system on board, but Research In Motion has confirmed that the smartphone is upgradable to version 7.1.

However, the phone’s main selling points are the exclusive materials, including the forged stainless steel frame, the hand-wrapped leather back cover, and the sculpted QWERTY keyboard.

In addition, the Porsche Design P’9981 comes with an exclusive Porsche Design UI and the famous Wikitude World Browser augmented reality app.

The brand new P’9981 smartphone is a milestone product for Porsche Design. It is a representation of the iconic Porsche Design styling philosophy and RIM’s technology-driven focus, which combine to deliver engineered luxury and performance in a smartphone for the discerning consumer,” said Dr. Juergen Gessler, CEO Porsche Design Group.

It is also worth mentioning that the customized smartphone features a premium, exclusive PIN that identifies the user as holder of a BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 smartphone.

Hardware-wise, the device is equipped with a 1.2 GHz single-core Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon processor, as well as 768MB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

The Porsche Design P’9981 sports a crystal-clear 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 640 x 480 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

The Porsche Design P’9981 smartphone from BlackBerry is a perfect culmination of style and functionality.
