Matt Bomer Talks Manscaping for Magic Mike Role

They say no sacrifice is big enough for your art and Matt Bomer certainly knows the meaning of this now. The handsome actor has admitted to manscaping and buffing up for his role in the upcoming film “Magic Mike.”

The film is inspired by Channing Tatum's stripper past and tells the story of a group of male dancers, with Bomer playing one of them.

Joe Manganiello is also part of the cast, and he's doing his fair share of promoting the film by speaking of his impressive physique to Men's Health UK.

Bomer too had to bulk up for the part because he was too slender to play one such character in a convincing manner but, oddly enough, that was not the part he hated the most.

That was manscaping, he reveals in a new interview with People magazine.

He probably found some consolation in the fact that all the other guys had to do it as well.

“We all had to go there. I’m not going to say it was fun, and personally I will never do it again, but for that project it was necessary. We were all in the boat together,” the actor explains.

“What was important to me was to tell the story authentically, and I wanted to reflect what the dancers in real life do. And that’s part of their job,” he goes on to say.

Besides manscaping and hitting the gym to get ready for the part, Bomer also had to do some research for it and he credits it with helping him understand the mentality of the character.

“It was us against the world. But in a lot of ways, that was the mentality of a lot of exotic dancers I talked to,” he tells People.

“It’s a profession that’s not widely accepted by the general populace, so even though they raz each other and it is a sort of locker room environment, they help each other out and look out for each other, and I feel like that’s something we picked up on,” Matt adds.

In the same interview, Bomer goes on the record saying that he's convinced men too will love the movie when it comes out (June 29) even though odds are very much against that, since it's packed with so much eye candy for the ladies.

“Magic Mike” also stars, besides Tatum, Manganiello and Bomer, Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer.
