German Developer Releases File Manager App for iPhone, iPad

File Manager App, described by its creators as the ultimate app to manage your files on your iPhone or iPad, has been released in the App Store with a single purpose – to create the equivalent of Windows Explorer / Finder on your iDevice.

“File Manager is the ultimate app to download, organize and view all your files on your iPhone or iPad,” says the developer. “It is like the Windows Explorer on your PC or the Finder on your Mac. Always have your important files with you.”

As much as we love our iPhones and iPads, we must admit Apple has been stubbornly reluctant to include a file managing function in iOS. Sure, it’s got to do a lot with security, but if Zuhanden GmbH can do it, so could Apple.

Until then, we’re happy to spread the word about Zuhanden’s File Manager App for iPhone and iPad which allows you to download your files from your computer using iTunes, or import them from Dropbox, Mail.app, and other apps, and then manage them to your liking.

“The intuitive user interface is amazing and makes organizing your content just a breeze,” says the developer. “The app combines traditional file browsing with a truly touch enabled interface.”

The app allows you to print, zip and unzip, copy files, move documents, create new folders, email files, and even rename files.

File Manager has a state-of-the-art PDF viewer which also supports MS Office documents, and you can also view pretty much any type of image, and play your MP3s and watch videos with the in-built players.

In fact, Zuhanden recommends that you do presentations with it (pictured above).

A universal application good for both iPhone and iPad, File Manager App is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later.
