Corsair Flash Voyager Slider USB 3.0 Drives Now Selling

Corsair is proving to be quite the busy little bee, having brought to Computex 2012 products for pretty much every business avenue it has tackled so far.

The company has officially introduced a new collection of USB flash drive units: Flash Voyager Slider USB 3.0.

It is obvious what sort of performance buyers can expect from them. Even if Corsair hadn't helpfully mentioned the read and write speeds, people would have been able to guess that just from knowing USB 3.0 was supported at all.

Naturally, USB 2.0 ports are compatible as well. It would not do to forget about backwards support after all, even if the transfer speeds are limited to 480 Mbps in such cases.

"Our Flash Voyager USB 3.0 drives are known for their blazing transfer speeds and rugged reliability," said Thi La, vice president of memory products at Corsair. "Our new Flash Voyager Slider continues this tradition while adding cap-free convenience and providing outstanding value."

The Flash Voyager Slider USB 3.0 drives have retractable USB plugs, meaning that they don't rely on a losable cap for protection.

As for performance, we may as well say what those aforementioned read and write speeds are.

The 8 GB model features a sequential read speed of 70 MBs, but a significantly lower write speed: 20 MB/s. The 16 GB model has the same prowess.

Things get better at 32 GB, though: the read speed is the same, but the write speed jumps from 20 to 40 MB/s.

Finally, the 64 GB Flash Voyager Slider USB 3.0 drive reads at 85 MB/s and can write at 70 MB/s.

Dropping by the official website will show that Corsair is already accepting orders for the newcomers. The 8 GB drive sells for $12.99 (10 Euro), the 16 GB one is priced at $17.99 (14 Euro), the 32 GB unit has a tag of $29.99 (23 Euro) and the 64 GB one bears a price of $64.99 (51 Euro).
