Canadas Best Buy and Future Shop Halt Pre-Orders of Galaxy S III

Samsung’s latest Android-based flagship phone, the Galaxy S III, is becoming increasingly popular each and every day.

The handset went for sale in Europe and other regions not too long ago, and it is set to arrive in North America before the end of this month.

In Canada, Galaxy S III will officially hit shelves on June 20th, but users can already pre-order it via wireless carriers.

Until yesterday, it was available for reservations through Best Buy and Future Shop as well, but the two retailers have ceased taking pre-orders for the device.

According to MobileSyrup, the demand was high enough to cause delays in shipments, and the two decided to remove the Galaxy S III from both online and in-store reservations.

The smartphone can still be seen on their respective websites, but it is tagged “Coming Soon,” and it is expected to remain so until the official release day arrives.

“Canadians clearly want their hands on the Samsung Galaxy S III – response to Future Shop’s preorders have been tremendous since day one. We recently ended preorders for this device to allow time to organize accurate shipments to our stores,” Future Shop reportedly stated.

As noted above, the flagship Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich device is still available for pre-orders through various wireless carriers in the country.

As soon as Samsung made an official announcement on Galaxy S III’s arrival in Canada, operators such as Bell, Rogers, TELUS, Virgin Mobile, Mobilicity, SaskTel, Videotron and WIND have all confirmed plans to add it to their offerings.

Two versions of the smartphone are expected to arrive on Canadian land before the end of June, one featuring 16GB of internal memory, and another with 32GB of storage inside (with support for an additional 64GB via microSD memory cards). They will be released in two different color flavors, Blue and White.
