Bethesda Focuses on Dawnguard, Plans More Skyrim DLC

The developers at Bethesda have just delivered the Dawnguard expansion for their open-world action role-playing game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and it seems that they are still looking for ideas when it comes to the next pieces of content for the game.

Matt Carofano, who is the leading artist working on Skyrim, stated, “We want to expand and add to the game to make it better, and Vampires were something that we really hadn’t told a good story with — hadn’t really developed much — so we wanted to focus the DLC on that play the game differently.”

The developer says that the current focus for the entire team is to make sure that Dawnguard runs well on all devices and that the entire experience is free of bugs and problems.

Bethesda has previously said that the new content will take about 20 hours to complete, but Carofano offered another way of evaluating its length, saying that it was very similar to a faction-based quest chain in the core game.

He added, “If you decide to help the Vampires you can end the tyranny of the sun — you know, block out the sun — so they can come out at night and be more powerful. Or you can join the Dawnguard and become a vampire hunter.”

Some of the highlights of the Dawnguard content include an armored troll that the player can control when battling vampires and the ability to use crossbows in battle.

At the moment Dawnguard is offered on the Xbox 360 exclusively and players who have The Elder Scrolls V on the PC and the PlayStation 3 will get access to it during July.

Bethesda has already made it clear that any new content that he delivers for Skyrim will be significant and will add a solid chunk of new quests.
