Apple Tells Developers to Retinize Their Mac Apps

The all-new MacBook Pro with a stunning retina display, all-SSD storage and a killer new design is out with a hefty price tag, and a need for native apps.

This is why Apple issued a memo to all Mac devs interested in being the first to feature an app for the platform. The company says “It’s easy to make your OS X Lion and Mountain Lion apps look stunning on any display.”

While some would say it’s easier said than done, the Mac maker notes that developers can employ Cocoa and Quartz 2D graphics to “incorporate optimized graphic resources and ensure seamless transitions between standard resolution displays and the Retina display.”

The two technologies offer support for multi-resolution images and a unified virtual coordinate system. The Cupertino, California-tech giant offers guides for the pre-release Mountain Lion, as well as for the current-selling OS X Lion. Go here for that.
