Zoo Releases Pictures of Baby Lemur and Asks Public to Name It

Conservationists will be glad to hear that a baby black lemur was recently born at Howletts Wild Animal Park, near Canterbury, Britain.

As a result of the destruction of its natural habitat and of intense hunting, this species currently finds itself on the Red List of endangered animals.

This means that each and every black lemur that is successfully bred in captivity is a beacon of hope for those still remaining in the wild.

Environmentalists explain that this lemur species is particularly interesting to observe because, whilst the males are black, the females have a pleasant brown-orange color.

Seeing how the aforementioned baby black lemur presently has no name, zoo keepers invite the public to come up with suggestions and post them on their Facebook page, starting tomorrow, July 4th.
