Steam Mobile App Shows Genres of Non-Game Software

Users of Steam’s mobile application for either Android or iOS-powered smartphones uncovered yesterday some new categories in the program’s genres section, which mention non-game software, ranging from photo editing to education, design, or even accounting.

The Steam mobile app, which was released earlier this year onto the iOS and Android platforms, has become invaluable during the current summer sale, as it allows users to quickly check the online store and see if any new discounts have appeared.

Now, a few users of the app have just uncovered new sections in the genre category that aren’t related to the actual games currently being sold on Steam.

These genres seem to classify different computer software, from Animation, to Audio Production, Design, Photo Edition, and much more, as you can see in the two screenshots above, via Joystiq.

All of these new genres are empty but it could hint to the fact that Valve might soon use Steam to sell more than just games.

As of yet, however, Valve hasn’t talked about this potential leak.
