Skyrim Patch 1.7 Beta Now Available for Download on Steam

Bethesda is preparing a brand new patch for its The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim role-playing game, in the form of update 1.7, which is now available as a beta download on the PC platform via Steam.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been a huge success, despite the fact that plenty of bugs, issues and problems appeared when the game was first launched last year.

Thankfully, Bethesda released plenty of patches and resolved a wide array of issues, while introducing new features like Kinect support on the Xbox 360, or better kill cams.

Now, a new update is getting ready to be released, in the form of patch 1.7, which is already available as a beta download via Steam.

Plenty of bug fixes can be found in the patch, including a variety of optimizations, as well as support for mounted combat on the PlayStation 3, which failed to receive the feature in the previous update 1.6.

Patch 1.7 (all platforms unless specified)

General memory and stability optimizations
Fixed crash related to new water shaders
Fixed rare crash related to dragon landings
Fixed logic error with loading screens from add-ons (Xbox 360)
Using vampiric grip and swimming no longer prevents swimming animation from playing afterwards
Improved recognition with Kinect voice commands (Xbox 360)
Kinect-enabled dragon language shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish work properly (Xbox 360)
Fixed issue with Dawnguard Kinect-enabled dragon shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish (Xbox 360)

The patch is available as a beta download on the PC and will be released in the near future on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

In case you forgot, PC owners can opt to get the beta update for their version of Skyrim on Steam by going to the Steam’s settings, and selecting Skyrim Beta participation in the Account tab.
