Samsung Omnia M Goes on Sale in India Ahead of Official Launch

Samsung has yet to roll out the Omnia M Windows Phone device globally. Although the smartphone is already available in a few European countries, the Omnia M will be officially released on the market in the next few weeks.

However, Indian retailer Snapdeal got its hands on the Samsung Omnia M and is now offering the smartphone for only 320 USD (265 EUR) outright.

Keep in mind that the handset has yet to be officially launched in India, so it’s unlikely to find the Omnia M at other retailers.

At first glance, Samsung Omnia M seems to be a great deal for those who want to try out Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform for the first time.

Still, with so many budget-friendly smartphones available on the market, the Omnia M will have a hard time becoming popular among customers.

The spiritual successor of the Omnia W, this Windows Phone device sports an impressive 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

Powered by Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, Samsung Omnia W is likely to receive a Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade by the end of the year, which will bring new features and improvements.

In terms of hardware, Omnia M is far from being impressive. The smartphone is equipped with a 1 GHz single-core processor, which is complemented by 384MB of RAM. It is also worth mentioning that there are 4GB of internal memory inside.

The smartphone also packs a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, as well as a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls.

The phone drains energy from a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. HSDPA and HSUPA support is available as well, along with Bluetooth and GPS with A-GPS support (Bing Maps included). Check it out here.
