Netflix and YouTube HQ Now a Reality as Nexus Q Gets Hacked

A developer has released detailed instructions on how to root Google’s Nexus Q. Users who choose to root their devices will be able to run apps such as Netflix, YouTube HQ, Apollo Music, Angry Birds and much more.

“I was playing with it to see how capable it is with stock OS and kernel at handling 1080 content. It took me longer to write these instructions than root the device,” kornyone wrote on the XDA Developers forum.

Google has encouraged customers to take a crack at the Nexus Q and as it turns out, it didn’t take long for someone to hack it.

Users who want to “free” their devices can check out the thread on xda-developers.com. If you’re interested in learning what you can do with a hacked Nexus Q, check out the video made by kornyone.
