Motorola MOTOSMART PLUS Lands in Mexico via Telcel

The mid-range Motorola MOTOLUXE Android phone has just been introduced in Mexico. The device is available via Telcel resellers across the country on a Telcel 500 Plan in 18 months.

Android enthusiasts will find that Motorola Mobility decided to launch the MOTOLUXE as Motorola MOTOSMART PLUS, tough the specs are similar.

Powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system integrated with MotoSwitch user interface, Motorola MOTOSMART PLUS sets itself apart from other mid-range devices with a lanyard slot that lights up when users receive an email message or text, or when they miss a call.

Although the MOTOSMART PLUS is a mid-entry handset, the smartphone sports a large 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

In addition, it boasts an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. There’s also a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls.

“With the new MOTOSMART PLUS, we remain firm in our goal of bringing Android smartphones to all users, as the device combines a sleek design, the latest multimedia features and an affordable price,” said Silvina Gonzalez Podesta, marketing manager, Motorola Mobility Mexico.

When it comes to hardware, the smartphone fails to impress. The MOTOSMART PLUS comes equipped with an 800 MHz single-core processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 200 GPU and 512MB of RAM.

On the inside, the device packs 1GB of ROM, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. Keep in mind that the MOTOSMART PLUS is shipped with a free 2GB memory card in the sales package.

The phone’s 1400 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 450 hours of standby time (400 hours in 3G mode) or up to 6.5 hours for talk time (4.5 hours in 3G mode).
