Maxthon 3.4.2.900 Beta Released

A new beta version popped up today for the popular Chinese web browser, Maxthon. It no longer adverts to an impressive score in HTML5 tests, but it introduces a new feature, designed to update favicons in Favorites section.

If you check the Maxthon score on the HTML5 test page, you’ll notice a drop from 467 to 422. The reason for this is that the Chinese developer would enable HTML5 features that did not actually work and Niels Leenheer (the maker of the test page) caught wind of this.

Cheating aside, Maxthon 3.4.2.900 Beta brings to the table improvements referring to transcoding efficiency and the browser startup speed.

The repairs in this revision touch on issues such as tab synchronization, HTTPS icon display, the printing component, display of MOV clips through QuickTime or the downloader not being able to save programs to a shared computer. You can check the entire list on this page.
