Lamp Posts Should Turn Into Giant Umbrellas, Save You from the Rain

Rain leads to various reactions, but there is one that almost everyone falls back on whenever they are caught by surprise: the impulse to seek shelter.

Unfortunately, there is often no shelter to be had, and Mikhail Belyaev feels this is unacceptable.

As such, he came up with the idea of lamp posts with built-in umbrellas. Whenever it starts to rain, the umbrellas (massive in size, compared to handheld ones) deploy and provide passersby with protection from the elements, not to mention the perfect bonding spots.

So, we guess the name of the contraptions would be lampbrellas or umbrellamps. Or something that doesn't sound like it was pulled out of a cartoon.

Fixing one of these in case something stops working would probably be a pain though.

Nevertheless, since this is a fairly straightforward idea, we can't help but ask ourselves why no one has thought of it before. Or if they have, why nothing ever came of it.
