KINGMAX Launches New MMP20 mSATA SSD

Well-known memory manufacturer Kingmax has just launched a new and affordable mSATA SSD, on its official website. The new device is clearly targeting users with older systems that want to get rid of old HDDs and enjoy the lower access time and higher sequential transfer speed of a solid state drive.

The new addition from Kingmax is called MMP20 and the manufacturer says that it is a cost-efficient choice of SSD for consumers to build hybrid storage (SSD+HDD) on the notebook or desktop system.

The official specifications fail to mention the controller maker, but from the higher quality picture published by Kingmax on its Chinese website we can see the SM2244G marking, and this is pointing towards a similar RunCore SSD.

We still don’t know who designed this chip so, if you have any info, we await your comments as soon as possible.

Being a budget product targeted for the upgrade on the embedded market, the MMP20 mSATA SSD features modest performance specifications, but unfortunately Kingmax doesn’t seem willing to set an official recommended price.

Here are the official performance specifications:

Sequential Read

128GB up to 150MB/s
64GB up to 150MB/s
32GB up to 125MB/s
16GB up to 70MB/s

Sequential Write

128GB up to 120MB/s
64GB up to 70MB/s
32GB up to 40MB/s
16GB up to 22MB/s
