One would imagine that a woman as praised for her beauty as Kate Beckinsale is, is also quite adverse to the idea of aging naturally. One would be wrong to assume that, as the actress makes it clear in her latest interview with Glamour.
Speaking to the publication, Kate, who will be seen next in the remake “Total Recall” with Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel, stresses that she's ok with the idea that, one day, she won't be as beautiful anymore.
“I feel like beauty is a gift that you have for a while, and you enjoy the hell out of it while you have it,” Kate explains.
“And if you’re lucky enough to have a daughter and you give it to her, you enjoy the fact she has it. My mother was always very, very beautiful – she still is, in her sixties,” the gorgeous actress adds.
Spending plenty of time in Los Angeles, Kate knows that plastic surgery, as amazing as it might sound at first, eventually backfires and leads to disastrous consequences.
“I’m sure [my mom] feels, 'Wouldn’t it be nice if my neck did this?' but not to the degree of cutting parts of herself odd and dragging them behind her ears. I feel very similar,” Kate says.
“I much prefer how my mother looks to the people I see here [in Los Angeles] with wind-tunnel face,” she adds.
In the same interview, the actress also talks about the pressure female celebrities are under these days to bounce back into shape mere months after they give birth, which isn't at all natural.
She recalls how much weight she gained while pregnant with her daughter Lily and is thankful that, back in the day, the paparazzi in Britain weren't as hungry for pre- and post-pregnancy pictures as they are today.
“There’s an obsessional hatred of normal human processes. Pregnancy changes a woman’s body and should. It isn’t normal to not look like you’ve had a baby immediately after you’ve had a baby,” Kate says.
