iOS 6 Beta 3 Seeded to Developers

The third beta release of iOS 6 is now available for developers, three weeks after the previous beta flavor of the platform was put up for download.

Developers can grab the new iOS 6 beta 3 through the Software Update feature on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch devices.

However, the necessary files are also available for download through Apple’s official developer website.

The new release brings along a host of new features and enhancements, some of those who already took it for a spin note.

Apparently, there are a series of new options in the Settings menu for the new Maps application from Apple.

To be more precise, the new options include the possibility to customize features such as volume of turn-by-turn navigation, or to set distances to be displayed in kilometers or miles.

Other changes include the option to set labels in normal or large sizes, or to set labels to always appear in user’s native language or in the local one.

Various other graphical modifications were brought to the application as well. Roads and labels are more clearly highlighted now.

The new platform release also lands with support for icloud.com email addresses, eliminating the previous restriction of using only me.com addresses.

Safari comes with a few minor changes too in iOS 6 beta 3, with its Bookmarks menu now displaying icons and not text on the buttons for Bookmarks, Reading List, and History options.

On the iPad, Safari’s Reading List now indicates progress in a sync graphic that is visible in the main browser bar.

The third beta of iOS 6 arrives with support for the third-generation iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and fourth-gen iPod touch.

Apple announced iOS 6 last month at its Worldwide Developers Conference. The Cupertino-based company is expected to make the final flavor of the operating system available for download sometime in fall.
