Intel Core i7-3630QM and i7-3632QM Set for Q4 Launch

Details on unannounced products show up in the most unlikely of places sometimes, but this isn't quite such an occasion, although the sources of info on two future Intel CPUs aren't totally common either.

Yesterday, data on AMD's A4-3450 APU surfaced on Biostar's CPU support information update. It was actually something that made us hope new desktop Trinity APUs would be launched in August.

We were disappointed, of course. AMD had, in fact,
delayed the chips to October, but we won't dwell on that here.

Instead, we will draw attention to the specifications of the Dell XPS 15 laptop, a certain eBay auction and yet another eBay auction.

Clicking on the Tech Specs tab on Dell's product page will show the list of CPUs, a list which includes the Intel i7-3632QM.

It is a quad-core ship with a base frequency of 2.2 GHz and both AVX and AES extension support. The Turbo Boost speed is 3.2 GHz and the cache memory is 6 MB.

Meanwhile, the Core i7-3630QM is exposed in one of the eBay auctions, through a CPU-Z screenshot. It is a 2.4 GHz part with 6 MB L3 cache and the same SIMD extensions as the other unit.

The Intel Core i7-3630QM and i7-3632QM will replace the Core i7-3610QM (45W) and i7-3612QM (35W).

We have no confirmations on the newcomers' TDPs, but we suspect they are either identical or lower. Core i7-3612QM was the only Ivy Bridge-based mobile processor with 4 CPU cores and 35 Watt TDP, so we wouldn't mind if a couple new ones appeared.

This is about as much as could be scrounged up so far; although we should specify that the CPU-Z screenshots on eBay aren't altogether correct (Hyper Threading is disabled even though both chips have it). We'll know everything in Q4, 2012, probably right after Microsoft launches Windows 8/RT.
