Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite Gets Launched with Android 4.0 ICS and GSM Voice Support

Chinese company Huawei plans to debut one of the most powerful Android devices in its portfolio, the MediaPad 10 FHD tablet. The slate was announced a few days ago, but this was not the only product launched by Huawei.

Although it may have gone unnoticed, Huawei actually wants to release a lite version of the MediaPad tablet.

Dubbed Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite, the slate is going to hit shelves in the fourth quarter of the year, though we don’t have any details on exact release date and price tag.

As the title says, MediaPad 7 Lite comes with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box, though by the time it gets on the market, there will be lots of devices powered by Google’s latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform.

However, the slate features “3G cellular voice, SMS and MMS,” which might prove to be an important selling point for those who do not want to carry an additional device with them in order to be able to communicate.

The 7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen supports 800 x 1280 pixels resolution and 262k colors. We also know the tablet packs microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Huawei MediaPad 7 supports HSDPA (21 Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76 Mbps) technology, but also offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with A2DP and EDR.

Unfortunately, the rest of the tablet’s specs are still a mystery, so we’re not sure how powerful the MediaPad 7 Lite will be at launch. The only thing that might hint at the tablet’s hardware is the fact that this is possibly the lite version of the MediaPad.

The latter comes with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, complemented by 1GB of RAM, but the new MediaPad 7 Lite might come with a better CPU. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
