Cloud Fundamentals Video: Data Classification

Cloud services involve information sharing, which requires more efficient security measures, especially when it comes to sensible data.

There is also collaboration that often needs to be taken into consideration, as well as different types of data that both service providers and customers need to protect.

In the latest installment of Cloud Fundamentals Video Series from Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing, additional info on data classification is provided.

The video features Lori Woehler, senior director in the Microsoft World Wide Public Sector team, and Tim Rains, director, Trustworthy Computing, and can be seen embedded at the bottom of this article.

Through this video, you can learn more on how the Microsoft World Wide Public Sector collaborates with customers all around the world, from areas such as government, health care, education, public safety, and national security.

In the clip, Lori Woehler provides info on her work on information sharing, collaboration and security solutions to provide a helping hand to public sector customers in search for a security solution for their needs.

“Lori reports that public sector customers are responsible for providing services back to their citizens, so data classification and access requirements are important considerations for them when it comes to migrating data and applications to the cloud,” Tim Rains notes in a blog post.

During the discussion, she says that “the ability to understand data and the classification of data and access requirements for that data is a foundation of making decisions for any workloads or any applications or datasets to move to the cloud.”

More on what was discussed can be found in the video below. Those who would like to access more info on various other topics that have been discussed in the Cloud Fundamentals Video series should head to this page on Softpedia for links to older topics that cover security, privacy, and other aspects of cloud computing.
