Christian Bale Visits Victims of Aurora Shootings in Hospital

Actor Christian Bale has paid his respects to those who lost their life in the Aurora, Colorado shootings last Friday and visited survivors in the hospital.

A gunman opened fire on audiences of a midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises,” the final Batman installment with Bale as the lead, killing 12 and injuring another 50.

Among those injured was also Carey Rottman, who posted this photo of himself and Bale in his room at the Aurora Medical Center, where he's recovering from a gunshot to the leg.

Reports online say that Christian Bale visited victims on his own, in a personal capacity, and not as part of a promo tour.

To make sure he would manage to get inside the hospital without being photographed, the actor slipped in an ambulance. However, his cover was blown when the people he visited posted photos of them together online.

Neither did he say anything about plans for a visit in the press. Bale issued a statement on Friday after the shootings saying, “Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

A publicist for Warner Bros., the movie studio behind TDKR, has already made it clear that the actor was not representing them on this particular visit.

Speaking of Warner Bros., The Hollywood Reporter informs that it has pledged a considerable sum of money to a fund destined for survivors and victims' families.

“The studio behind 'The Dark Knight Rises' has been in contact with the state governor’s office and will make a lump sum contribution. Warner Bros., the studio behind The Dark Knight Rises, is making a donation to charities supporting victims of the Aurora, Colo., shooting rampage,” THR says.

Warner has refused to talk about the donation in any way, but reports say it's “substantial.”

“Warners is the first of the Hollywood organizations to make a charitable gift. Cinemark, which owns the Century Aurora 16 theater where the shooting took place, has yet to announce any donation, nor has the MPAA or the National Association of Theater Owners,” THR further says.
