ASUS TransformerPad TF700T Launches Next Month in Japan

ASUS’ Android 4.0 10.1” tablet will soon come to the Land of the Rising Sun. The new device is called ASUS Pad TF700T and will feature a very fast Nvidia Tegra 3 ARM processor running at an impressive 1,7 GHz.

The new tablet launching in Japan is already known to our western readers as ASUS Infinity and it is powered by Nvidia’s quad-core ARM Cortex A9 architecture.

Nvidia’s quad-core comes with a unique twist, as it features a fifth low-power core that kicks in when simple applications are used if the device is left idling.

The fabless GPU designer calls this “Tegra 4 + 1” and the chip has a reference clockspeed of 1400 MHz, but it will increase the frequency to a high 1700 MHz if there’s a single-threaded application in need of maximum performance.

The WUXGA screen is made using a Super IPS+ panel to ensure increased brightness and good outdoor readability.

The display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 that’s about 25% stronger than the original Gorilla Glass.

The system only has 1 GB of DDR3L memory, but it features numerous connectivity options such as Micro HDMI output, a microSD card reader, a rear 8MP camera, a 2MP front facing camera, WirelessN, Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR and a classic mic and headphones audio jack.

The new tablet also comes with a built-in microphone, speakers, GPS, electronic compass, light sensor, accelerometer and a gyroscope.

The keyboard pad will bring an additional 9.5 hours of battery life and a USB 2.0 connector along with a SD card reader slot.

ASUS’s new TransformerPad TF700T tablet will achieve almost 14 hours of battery life when the dock is connected.
