Affordable HTC Desire C Coming Soon to Rogers

There's no doubt about it, HTC Desire C should be the cheapest ICS-based smartphone launched by the Taiwanese handset maker.

The budget-friendly device was officially unveiled back in May and hit shelves one month later. However, the Desire C is only available in a some countries, though HTC is currently rolling out the smartphone globally.

Canadian Android enthusiasts will be happy to know that HTC plans to launch the Desire C in their country as well. According to the folks over at MobileSyrup, HTC Desire C will be available for purchase through Rogers.

For the time being, no details on the phone's availability or pricing options have been unveiled, but more information will surely be disclosed closer to launch.

Those who are not familiar with this rather new device should know that the Desire C is powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system integrated with HTC Sense 4.0 UI.

Furthermore, the smartphone is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz single core processor, which seems to be enough to run Google's Ice Cream Sandwich platform.

On the inside, the Desire C packs 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Surprisingly, the affordable handset comes with Beats Audio technology and, possibly, with ImageSense. There's also a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features video recording. Unfortunately, the phone does no come with a secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

When it comes to connectivity, HTC Desire C is an all-rounder. The device offers quite a few options, including Wi-Fi, HSDPA (7.2Mbps), HSUPA, Bluetooth and GPS with A-GPS support.

Last but not least, the smarpthone sports a decent 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution. It's also powered by a 1230 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
