Revengeance DLC Will Include New Character, New Missions

The developers at Platinum Games and the publishing team at Konami have revealed that they have a lot of post launch content planned for the upcoming Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, including a potential new character to play with.

Yuji Kurekado, who is a producer working on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, has talked to GTTV, that, “We do have plans for some download content after the release from the game that will allow you to play maybe as a different character or some new missions.”

Unfortunately, it seems that the development team at Platinum Games has no plans to make multiplayer a part of their new release, either on launch or after that.

Kurekado added, “We don’t have any plans for competitive online play or anything like that.”

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a spin-off from the main series, created by Hideo Kojima, and stars Raiden as a cyborg ninja assassin who needs to avenge the trauma of his childhood as an unwilling soldier.

Initially, the game was set to offer the same blend of action and stealth as other titles in the Metal Gear franchise, with a new cut-and-take mechanics designed specifically for the new protagonist.

Since then the core Kojima Productions team has moved into an oversight role and development duties were picked up by Platinum Games, best known for creating Bayonetta and Vanquish.

Revengeance will have more of an action focus, which was visible during this year’s E3, when Raiden was shown cutting up a variety of types of enemies and even running from one rocket to another in order to reach an enemy helicopter gunship.

Hideo Kojima has said that Revengeance will offer fans of Metal Gear a new type of experience, but he also suggested that he has another stealth based game in pre-production.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be launched on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in early 2013.
