Only 0.038% of Facebook Users Cared About Data Retention Policy Vote

A week ago, Facebook started allowing people to vote on whether to implement the new data retention policy and the new terms of service. It wasn't exactly Facebook's idea, but it went through with it despite having reservations about its success.

Facebook had set the precedent for users voting on these documents a few years back when it was significantly smaller. But the precedent meant that it needed 30 percent of the active user base to vote for it to be binding in any way.

Unsurprisingly, Facebook didn't get close to 30 percent, in fact it only got 0.038 percent of users to vote. Those that did vote chose to keep the old documents, almost 298,000 people out of the 342,000 that voted.

So Facebook, unsurprisingly, decided to go ahead and start implementing the new documents.
