No Character DLC for Dead or Alive 5

Despite the recent trend linked to the fighting game genre, players will get all the fighters they need with the initial release of the upcoming Dead or Alive 5.

Yosuke Hayashi, who is the leader of the Team Ninja development effort on the title, told Videogamer that, “We have no plans to sell characters as downloadable content.”

He added, “We don’t feel that it’s right for fighting games. We feel like this is a kind of sport, and you don’t change the rules for sports. Everybody plays by the same rules. You don’t have a 14-player soccer game versus an 11-player soccer game. That’s just not fair.”

The main concern for developers at Team Ninja is fairness and they want to make sure that gamers have the time to get acquainted and explore the launch roster.

Dead or Alive 5 is set to launch on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 during September of this year.
