More Security Features for Diablo 3 Are Coming Ahead of Its Real-Money Auction House

Blizzard is getting ready to debut the Real-Money Auction House (RMAH) for Diablo 3 and has now revealed that it’s adding a new security measure, which requires players to use an Authenticator every time they transfer funds from their Battle.net Balance.

Diablo 3 has been around for almost a month and, amidst errors and a few other controversies, security has been a key issue, with many players reporting that their accounts were hacked by nefarious individuals who made off with their gold and in-game items.

Blizzard has said that it’s monitoring the situation and will solve any security problems.

Now, ahead of the release of the Real-Money Auction House, where players will be able to buy and sell in-game items with real-life cash, the studio has announced that a new security measure will be implemented.

“With the introduction of the real-money auction house, account security will become more important than ever. To help ensure that players have a positive experience when using the real-money auction house, we’ve made some adjustments to how players can use and access their Battle.net Balance,” Blizzard said.

“Starting today, in order to add to your Battle.net Balance, players will be required to have a Battle.net Authenticator or Battle.net Mobile Authenticator attached to their Battle.net account. For clarity, this means you’ll need to have an Authenticator to add to your balance via Battle.net Account Management or to send the proceeds of your real-money auction house sales to your Battle.net Balance,” the company added.

Those who already added funds to their Battle.net balance will be able to spend them without needing an Authenticator, but any future transfers will require them to implement the security measure.

Don’t forget that you can either buy an actual Authenticator from Blizzard or get the special mobile application for the iOS or Android operating systems, for free.
