Industrial Designer Assembles iPhone 5 Using CAD

Remember the iPhone 5 video rendering we showed you earlier today? Well, designer Bryce Haymond wasn’t happy with just that. He wanted to give the media some imagery to use in the sea of speculative articles to come in the time left until Apple’s big announcement.

“I thought it would be fun to piece together these fragments to see what the iPhone 5 might look like when Apple makes the big announcement,” he says, speculating that such an announcement could come as early as Monday.

There’s little to no chance of that, Mr. Haymond, but we all hope we’re wrong about this estimate.

Haymond is offering 76 high-resolution image renderings of the iPhone 5, based on the latest hardware leaks, in both black and white, from numerous angles and positions.

He created the renderings using CAD, “the same type of software that was used to design the actual phone,” he writes.

As he looked closely at the  blurry photos of the parts, the designer noticed some things that he hadn’t seen mentioned elsewhere online, he said.

He provides a few bullet points on his blog, where you can also see his video rendering of the presumed iPhone 5.

“Who knows if these leaked parts are real or just folks playing tricks, but its fun to see anyway,” he notes on his blog. “If this is the new design, I think it’s an absolute beauty [...]  If not, I’m sure the real thing will be just as good, if not better.”

He congratulates Apple’s Chief Designer, Jony Ive, regardless of whether these images speak the truth or not. Seems legit, since Jony hasn’t had a miss in over a decade.
